K2Share to Showcase SPARS EGMS Tool During 2007 GovSec Conference
30 April 2007
COLLEGE STATION, TX – K2Share, LLC announced today that its SPARS (State Preparedness Assessment and Reporting Service) electronic grants management system (EGMS) has exceeded the $750 million mark in total DHS grants monies managed through the application.
SPARS is currently operating in the states of Texas, South Carolina, and Nebraska, with four additional states actively considering its licensing.
The company also announced that it will showcase the application during GovSec, America's Premier Homeland Security Event, in Washington, D.C., during May 8-10, 2007.
These announcements come on the heels of the recent selection of SPARS by the National Capital Region (NCR), consisting of the District of Columbia; Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties of Maryland; Arlington, Fairfax, Loudon, and Prince William Counties of Virginia. Through SPARS, the NCR now has the ability to manage and maintain all of its required grant monitoring, readiness evaluation, and bi-annual reporting to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
SPARS provides states and the other Homeland Security State Administrative Agencies (SAAs) with the capability to manage grants and other resources using a turnkey EGMS solution. This solution brings the benefits of:
Assisting with strategic and project planning
Maintaining documented history of grant activities
Improving speed and accuracy of information/data for analysis and reporting
Enhancing strategic decision-making by the SAAs and subrecipients
Promoting security of access and information/data
Managing investments and asset monitoring
“The real-time data management capabilities of SPARS will now assist one of the nation’s largest metropolitan areas in its homeland security grant management activities. SPARS will improve the ability of the NCR to assist the first responders who serve the nation’s capital and surrounding area,” K2Share’s VP of State and Local Programs Jay Marshall said. “Through use of the SPARS application, the NCR SAA has more time to review and evaluate the grant process, while spending less manpower on collecting data and preparing reports.”
The K2Share SPARS solution provides the NCR with SAA service to all its jurisdictions, updates and upgrades to the software, and a toll-free help desk for state and local users.
“K2Share is honored to have earned the trust of the National Capital Region. We are proud to provide a solution that will enable this vital, historic area to effectively manage its DHS grants,” said Dr. Larry Teverbaugh, K2Share’s President and CEO.
